JUNIOR CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATOR

Reporting to the Project Development Manager (PDM), this position will be responsible for the preconstruction cost estimates of a variation of residential projects. During the preconstruction, the Estimator will work closely with the PDM and design consultants to prepare cost plans, undertake value engineering, complete cost savings exercises and develop the project budget. This role will continue through the tendering sub-trade work, ensuring that all aspects are effectively coordinated, meet the project specifications and are under or at budget.
This person must have at least 2 years of experience, be familiar with all aspects of construction and have the necessary skills and abilities to create accurate estimates.

Key Responsibilities:
- Review tender documents and establish detailed scopes of work.
- Evaluate areas of risk while establishing scope.
- Establish preliminary schedules.
- Site visits to establish scope as necessary.
- Material + subtrade take offs.
- Build a complete project take off.
- Trade tendering's.
- Develop and manage relationships with trades.
- Conduct value engineering options.
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
- Detail oriented with strong ability to read and interpret drawings.
- Set up project files once the sales cycle is done.
- Local market experience is required
Other Skills Required:
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Previous experience with Buildertrend an asset.
- Ability to handle multiple projects at the same time.
- Preference will be given to candidates with Post Secondary in related field
